SRSG Ziadeh holds regular consultations in Belgrade, meets with Prime Minister of Serbia and representatives of the international community ahead of the Security Council Session on Kosovo

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UNMIK Caroline Ziadeh met with the Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabić, as part of her diplomatic consultations ahead of the United Nations Security Council meeting on Kosovo.

SRSG Ziadeh and Prime Minister Brnabić discussed issues of mutual concern, including Belgrade-Pristina relations following recent developments in the EU-facilitated dialogue. The Head of UNMIK reiterated her support for full constructive engagement by both sides within the framework of the EU-facilitated dialogue. She commended the agreements reached on freedom of movement and energy and encouraged further progress, to secure tangible and meaningful benefits for the lives of people throughout Kosovo.

SRSG Ziadeh also met separately with the Director of the Office for Kosovo, Mr. Petar Petković. In addition, SRSG Ziadeh, also exchanged views with the Ambassadors representing the Quint and the European Union, as well as China and the Russian Federation. The SRSG's meetings focused on the latest political and security developments, including in the framework of the EU-facilitated dialogue, and on UNMIK’s continued role in promoting peace and prosperity in Kosovo. Regional cooperation matters were also discussed.

SRSG Ziadeh will report to the United Nations Security Council in October 2022.
