The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UNMIK Caroline Ziadeh met with Bishop Teodosije of the Eparchy of Raška-Prizren at the Gračanica Monastery today, following on from recent significant religious celebrations.

During their meeting, SRSG Ziadeh welcomed recent messages of peace underlined by the Patriarch during the orthodox celebration of Vidovdan last week.

SRSG Ziadeh highlighted the unique role of religious leaders in fostering harmonious inter-communal relations in Kosovo and extended the Mission's full support to the church in its efforts to preserve peaceful diversity in Kosovo.

In response, Bishop Teodosije expressed gratitude to SRSG Ziadeh and the Mission for their role in efforts to diffuse recent tensions in Kosovo and expressed the church's willingness to act as a beacon for peace.
