The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UNMIK Caroline Ziadeh visited the Islamic Community of Kosovo today and met with the Grand Mufti of Kosovo Naim Tërnava.  SRSG Ziadeh thanked Mufti Tërnava for his contributions to peaceful interfaith relations in Kosovo as well as for working to bring an end to gender-based violence. SRSG Ziadeh also expressed appreciation to the Islamic Community of Kosovo for cultivating inter-religious and inter-ethnic dialogue and for promoting tolerance and coexistence in Kosovo, vital for community trustbuilding which remains a cornerstone for UNMIK, she said.

“The role of religious leaders in building peace is crucial,” SRSG Ziadeh said.
