SRSG Ziadeh participates in High-Level meeting on Action for Peacekeeping+ and meets with German officials in Berlin

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UNMIK, Caroline Ziadeh, participated in the High-level meeting on Action for Peacekeeping+, hosted by the German Government in Berlin from 25 to 26 April. The forum brought together the Heads of Mission of peacekeeping operations and Under-Secretary General Jean-Pierre Lacroix from the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Under-Secretary General Atul Khare from the Department of Operational Support Department, and Under-Secretary General Catherine Pollard from the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance for discussions on a number of themes, including strategic and operational integration, safety and security of peacekeepers, performance and accountability, conduct and discipline, environmental management, and technology in peacekeeping.

On 27 April, SRSG Ziadeh participated in a Dialogue on UN Peace Operations and the National Security Strategy, hosted by Ms. Almut Wieland-Karimi, Executive Director of the Centre for International Peace Operations. She later met with Members of the Bundestag, including MdB Adis Ahmetović (Social Democratic Party) and MdB Michael Brand (Christian Democratic Union). At the Federal Foreign Office, SRSG Ziadeh met with Mr. Florian Laudi, Director for the United Nations and Counterterrorism, and Mr. Frédéric Jörgens, Deputy Head of the Western Balkans Division. These consultations provided a forum for exchange of views on the situation in Kosovo, the role of UNMIK and the dynamics affecting the Western Balkans.
