The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of UNMIK Ms. Caroline Ziadeh visited Gjakovë/Đakovica municipality on 6 September, where she met with the Mayor Mr. Ardian Gjini.

SRSG Ziadeh and Mayor Gjini discussed current developments in the municipality. Mr. Gjini spoke about the significant economic potential of the municipality, as well as the positive relations his administration maintains with non-majority communities. SRSG Ziadeh highlighted the continued engagement of UNMIK in support of trust-building and social cohesion in Kosovo.

SRSG Ziadeh also visited Medica Gjakova – an NGO providing assistance to survivors of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

In the meeting with the Director Ms. Mirlinda Sada, SRSG Ziadeh acknowledged the significant contributions of Medica Gjakova in advancing the rights and empowerment of the survivors. She reaffirmed UNMIK's unwavering commitment to providing support for CRSV and GBV survivors and to promoting a victims-centred approach to transitional justice.
