UNMIK welcomes RIT students – and welcomes back their lecturer, former UNMIK DSRSG
Summer school is in session! UNMIK was pleased to welcome about 20 students from the US and Kosovo who are undertaking papers in Peacekeeping and Conflict Transformation over the summer semester at the @Rochester Institute of Technology’s Pristina campus. During the session, the students received a briefing from Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General Barrie Freeman and a number of UNMIK’s substantive offices, including its human rights, political affairs and civil affairs components. They also had the opportunity to ask questions about on-the ground experiences and work at one of the UN’s longest standing peace missions.
The session was additionally special as it represented a welcome home to the students’ lecturer, former DSRSG Christopher Coleman, who worked at UNMIK from 2015 to 2020 following a 30-year career in peacekeeping and diplomacy.
