Stand up for someone’s rights today: Video Message of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

Human Rights Day: Stand up for someone’s rights today

On 10 December, the UN Human Rights Office celebrates Human Rights Day 2016 by launching the global campaign “Stand up for someone’s rights today.

As Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, says: “This is not yet another campaign. It is an imperative. With global values under attack, we want to call on people to draw the line; to use their rights to defend rights.”

The “Stand Up” campaign, which will run throughout 2017, is a call to people across the world to stand up for human rights everywhere – in the workplace, on the sports field, at school, in the street. We hope to encourage, galvanise and showcase what each of us can do to stand up for those who are subjected to harassment, are bullied or discriminated against.
